The Diploma of General Insurance is designed for general insurance employees who lead a claims or underwriting team, handle complex claims, underwrite complex risks, initiate and respond to legal action in relation to claims, survey risk exposure, implement claims recovery and review portfolio performance.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Diploma is comprised of 4 modules. The Diploma modules are paired under specialty classes, each of which includes one module on underwriting and one on claims management. Students must complete at least one whole specialty class (two modules) as well as the Risk Management module (GI512) which is compulsory for all diploma students. Students can then select the remaining module according to work requirements and aspirations.

Compulsory Module
The Risk Management module is compulsory for all Diploma students and covers the benefits and process of risk management, the treatment options and methods of transferring and financing risks. This module also looks at identifying and reviewing loss trends and changes in risk exposure as well as how to assess whether changes to programs are required.
